full of random thoughts
and dreams
and funny stories
she wrote
the way she thought
coherently, humourously
if a bit long-winded
as she joyously sent bits of
home
to a far-away land

she wondered how long
the reply would take
when one came
she pored over it eagerly
smiling and chuckling
at the thoughts that came floating
across the ocean
—
and every once in a while
as she smiled
and laughed
she wondered …
and then smiled some more
