the other side of the curtain

they said a man couldn’t walk

on water

they said dead people couldn’t

live again

they said that hearts that were broken

were broken forever

they said you had to

toe the line

or else they’d kick you out

they relied on blood and fire and

mysteries that even they

did not understand

that was on one side of the curtain

now because of the greatest sacrifice

hearts are transformed

and dead people live again

the hurting are healed

made whole and holy

the lame pirouette

the blind have their new eyes

dazzled by sunlight

all because of the Man who

walked on water

and here i live

in Him

on the other side of the curtain
