“live imperfectly with great delight”

that’s what’s on the back of this charming poster by curly girl design. it will soon be hanging in my room.

i don’t know whether delighting in our imperfection is necessarily the attitude to have so much as delighting in the reality that perfection is entirely impossible for us, but that we are being made perfect in Christ.

that is a life worth living with all the wonder and joy and excitement and energy we possess.

i love this quote:

“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his version of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both.” — James Michener

i found out it’s not actually by james michener, but let’s forget for now that that is of importance. i like the idea behind it. to take it a step further — pursue excellence to the utmost of your ability, in a manner worthy of the calling with which you were called, and the million-and-one things of life will align properly. everything else is put in its balanced perspective when what you have your attention fixed on is Christ.

“When grace is joined with wrinkles, it is adorable. There is an unspeakable dawn in happy old age.” — Victor Hugo

one thing leads to another. life in love with Christ brings an unfathomable joy at any age, really.

but still. someday, when i am gray and wrinkly, i hope i never get too old to splash in puddles and kiss my dear-whoever-he-may-be on the nose.
