i trust your opinion

because your handwriting shows that you think

you scrawl over everything, tiny and blue

i have to squint and strain to decipher it

but appreciate the personality it reveals

always i emulated my father’s tiny blue scrawl

much to my mother’s chagrin

what developed was a hybrid of print and

script, inimitably my own

just as yours is uniquely you

i want to fight what you say

and question your questions

but they are hard to take offense at

because i trust your writing
