black smoke curls frantically up toward the ceiling

the flame flickering and dancing like mad

i took the fire’s life, killing it before it killed

and i am a murderer, for i have massacred dreams

cords of cobweb could not bind me fast

i outran the folly of my own creating

burning every bridge

behind me

and never

looked

back

Why is it easy for us never to look back? Which has more courage….never to look back or to go back and see what we have left behind. Feels like both situations are difficult.
