i found these ladies at the library the other day.
no, they weren’t just wandering around looking for a good book to read. i was wandering around in the music section wondering if there was anything i hadn’t heard that was worth listening to.
i know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but i do that with albums all the time (hey, the phrase specifies “book.” it doesn’t mention records or cds.) the name and 1940s-style photo caught my eye, so i added the cd to my pile and checked out.
i listened to the first half of it today and it’s lovely. going by their harmonies and the sort of soulful, southern folk sound, they put me in mind of what the civil wars would sound like if they were a sister act.
apparently their album’s been out since 2010. let’s hope there’s more to come.
