after seeing a performance of the heart of america shakespeare festival’s “antony and cleopatra tonight, while everyone was standing around talking and working themselves up to the drive home, i got the sudden urge to fall flat on the ground.
so i did.
the looks on people’s faces were completely worth the jar to my skeleton.
i went to the play expecting to hear “my salad days, when i was green in judgment” — which i don’t remember hearing.
there was, however, this lovely line:
“now he’ll out-stare the lightning.”
