half answers

if doors had windows

i would stand on tiptoe

nose propped up on the wood

between the panes

and peer through as far

as my eyes could see

and my mind could comprehend

if doors had windows part of me

thinks i would be content knowing

all the roads my feet had yet to tread

and the joy and dread commingled there

but the rest of me knows half answers

never made lonely hearts whole
