just a girl herself
ordinary and obscure
young mary rocks him
joseph the gentle
opens his arms in shelter
yet waits, watching, the
juxtaposition
of eternal and finite
yielding fresh wonder
Jehovah, how can
One so great become so small?
Yahweh, a baby?
jubilant, he whispers
only loud enough for her —
yet come unto us!
