the temple. saint john
says he wove a whip
to drive them and their
animals away.
can you imagine
Jesus angry? (it’s not a
popular motif.)
but He knew the blood
of birds and bulls and sheep could
never end sin’s grip,
that offered doves would
never bring final peace ‘twixt
God and man — unless
it were the blood of
the great Shepherd Himself, slain
for our restoring.
the Lamb of God chased
the money changers away —
and offered Himself instead.
