here i go
maybe it’s the last time
last season i’ll spend
sitting in cold and hot
classrooms
trudging through unplowed
parking lots
writing essays
inhaling textbooks
living on coffee and coca-cola
filing facts away
for later perusal
but what comes at the end?
graduation
cap and gown
triumphant march
down the hill
college has owned
five years of my
life
what will i do
when it’s over?
