the grass was green as fire

single blades licked my feet like flames

as i ran by in a blaze of glory

intense joy burning my soul

with the heat of all the light there ever was

when my heart held but embers

and my joy turned to ash

hope all but extinguished

i remembered the fire-green grass

and glowed again
