muggy june night
darkness finally arrived
lightning bugs pulse on and off
no stars in view
too grey the skies
in the deepened dusk
but missing is
the shimmering wheel
that cools and soothes
the sunglare of
summer days
it is full tonight
but absent
i need to say
goodnight
